Results of 11th ASEAN Kendo Tournament 2016

 Singapore sent a contingent of representatives to take part in the 11th ASEAN Kendo Tournament in Bangkok. The AKT, as it is often referred to, is a triennial tournament in which the South-East Asian countries come together to battle it out, and then party hard as one big family. This year, we saw the inclusion of representatives from Cambodia and Myanmar.

We are proud of all our participants, in particular, a number of newly-blooded players from the Men's team.

Here are the results:

Women's Team Champion - Singapore Team A
Daphne Wong, Stella Wong, Reina Chan, Joyce Chia, Grace Lim, Tor Ching Li and Lim Yixin.

Women's Team 3rd Place - Singapore Team B
Christina Soh, Tan Jiayi, Tong Yuyan, Anthea Lee, Teo Ching Hui, Cheryl Sng.

Women's Individual 3rd Place - Daphne Wong

Men's Team 3rd Place - Singapore Team A
Sureshwaran Krishnasamy, Zhao Xuning, Gervinn Chan, Oliver Ng, Desmond Lye, Eric Koh, Sida Huang.

We would like to congratulate and thank each and every member of the teams for their dedication and efforts in representing Singapore at this event, including members of Men's Team B (Eugene Chow, Carey Loy, Ng Say Yong, Brendan Ang, Nazarul Syarafuddin, Yap Lin Jun and Alfred Wong). Thanks also goes out to the coaches and many senseis for their unfailing help.

The SKC would also like to thank our Thailand compatriots for organizing the event, and the many shimpans who came from all over the world. We look forward with anticipation to the next AKT which will be held in Indonesia.
